PHILADELPHIA — Five Philadelphia firefighters were injured when the aerial they were in responding to a call went out of control and hit several parked cars.
6ABC.com reported that Ladder 13’s cab was traveling westbound when it struck four parked cars. In surveillance video, the rig slides to its right, slamming into the vehicles, which were unoccupied at the time. It also took down a utility pole.
The firefighters suffered minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
“One firefighter was transported as a trauma transport, but I just received the report from Presbyterian Hospital indicating that he and the other four that were transported are in stable condition,” said Deputy Chief Jesse Wilson.
The rig was hauled away after the incident and it is unknown what caused the crash.
No other injuries were reported.
