MESA, Ariz. — It’s never too late to live out your dreams — even if it’s riding in a fire truck when you’re 90.
On Betty Lee’s 90th birthday, Mesa firefighters surprised her with a ride in a fire truck.
“I didn’t know it was going to happen and it happened,” Lee told 12News. “It’s wonderful.”
Lee and her husband, Milt, have been longtime supporters of first responders, and helped found the Mesa Public Safety Foundation.
“This is a really small way to thank them for their service,” Mesa Fire Chief Mary Cameli said.
Lee said she isn’t sure what adventure she’ll take next.
“Gee whiz, it took me 90 years to get this done. I don’t know what I’m going to think up,” Lee said.
