LAS VEGAS — A fire truck responding to a medical call struck the side of a pickup truck that ran a red light Tuesday morning.
Las Vegas Sun reported that the rig had its lights and sirens on crossing a road with a green light when it hit the driver side of truck. The truck then spun, crashing into a tree and backyard wall.
The woman in the pickup suffered undetermined injuries and was taken to a hospital in stable condition. No firefighters were hurt.
It appears the woman was texting while driving and was cited for failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, according to the report.
“We are very fortunate that no one was more seriously injured and hope that a lesson is learned that texting while driving is dangerous,” the fire department said in a news release.
