JERSEY CITY, N.J. — A 25-year-old Passaic County man was charged with driving under the influence of narcotics after hitting the back of a Jersey City fire truck yesterday, police reports said.

Eder Rodriguez, 25, of Rifle Camp Road in Woodlawn Park (formerly called West Paterson) was charged after he drove his 2005 black Honda Accord into the parked fire truck at West Side Avenue and Pavonia Avenue at around 2:30 p.m.

Rodriguez drove his car into the unoccupied Pierce Saber Fire Engine on West Side Avenue with its lights flashing, while Company 15 was responding to another accident, police said. There was minimal damage to the fire truck’s bumper and minor damage to the front end of the car, officials said.

The driver refused treatment. He was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for a urine test, reports said.
