PITTSBURGH, Pa. — Two Pittsburgh firefighters were taken to a hospital Tuesday after their fire truck smashed into a support for the Brady Street bridge.

The crash happened about 9 a.m. when a South Side Slopes fire crew was returning from a call for a disabled vehicle, Pittsburgh public safety spokeswoman Sonya Toler said.

The truck was heading northeast on Bates Street from Second Avenue when it crashed into the bridge support, Toler said.

Two of the four firefighters in the truck were taken to a hospital. Their injuries were minor, Toler said.

Neither the bridge nor its support beam were damaged, but the fire truck was “significantly damaged,” Toler said.

Pittsburgh police are investigating the crash.
