New NY fire truck crashes during delivery

The rig was being delivered to a fire department when it left the roadway and ended up in a culvert

ISLIP TERRACE, N.Y. — A new fire truck being delivered to a fire department crashed on an interstate Tuesday.

Poughkeepsie Journal reported that the rig was about 100 miles away from being delivered to the Islip Terrace Fire Department when it left the roadway and ended up in a culvert.

Traffic was backed up for three miles after the incident and emergency responders had to shut down a lane to remove the fire truck. The delivery driver was transported to a hospital for evaluation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
