DEL CITY, Okla. — A fire truck was damaged Tuesday night while firefighters were responding to a vehicle accident.

About 8 p.m., Del City firefighters were at the accident in the 5200 block of E Reno Avenue when a vehicle hit the back of a fire truck, Fire Maj. Brandon Pursell said. The driver of the car that hit the truck was treated for minor injuries at a hospital, and a blood sample was taken to determine whether the incident was alcohol related, police Capt. Jody Suit said.

The fire truck was purchased in 2000 at a cost of $400,000. A damage estimate hasn’t been determined, but the fire truck will be out of service for several months, Pursell said.
