LANCASTER, Pa. — Fire Chief Matt Martzell expressed the Denver Fire Company’s appreciation Aug. 9 for Denver Borough’s $90,000 contribution toward the company’s new $490,000 rescue truck.
The contribution was a “great help,” Martzell told borough council.
Mike Hession, borough manager, explained that in 1999 the borough began to put money in a capital fund account each year to help the Denver Fire Company for major expenses, such as replacement of equipment.
In 2010, by adding a little over $12,000, the borough was able to reach the $90,000 mark.
“We can’t express enough to you volunteers how grateful we are for all you do,” council President Kevin Brandt told the fire officials who brought the large new rescue truck to the municipal office building parking lot for inspection.
The search for a replacement truck big enough to accommodate the new mandated equipment was not easy.
Fire official Doran Getz noted that additional funding is needed for the truck and other routine expenses.
