MOSCOW — The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry will purchase fire-protection equipment costing more than 3.5 billion rubles (about $117 million) at an auction in January, the United Electronic Market Place reported Tuesday.
The government earlier set a goal to boost the share of new equipment for firefighters to 80% by 2015 by spending 43 billion rubles ($1.4 billion) for the purpose.
