DUNBAR, W. Va. — A rescue truck stolen from the Dunbar Fire Department on Tuesday night was found Wednesday morning in Smithers.
Dunbar Deputy Fire Chief Butch Ellis said the GMC pickup truck disappeared from the parking lot at the central Dunbar fire station sometime after 9 p.m.
He said the truck has a topper and is loaded with rescue equipment and tools. The fire department uses the truck as a backup rescue vehicle.
Fire officials got a call about 6:30 a.m. that the truck had been located at the Rite Aid in Smithers.
Dunbar police are investigating, and were dusting the truck for fingerprints this morning.
Ellis said the truck appeared to be unharmed, and said nothing appeared to have been stolen from the vehicle.
“We had a lot of expensive equipment on there,” he said. “We’re just happy to have it back with all the equipment.”
