NORFOLK, Va. — A 73-year-old woman died after a crash with a Norfolk Fire-Rescue utility truck Wednesday.
The truck was traveling east on Brambleton Avenue when the woman’s Dodge Stratus pulled out from Landing Street to make a left and head west, according to the preliminary investigation. The truck was not running its lights at the time of the crash, said Officer Daniel Hudson, a police spokesman.
The woman was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck was treated at the scene for minor injuries, according to a police news release.
Police closed East Brambleton Avenue between Church Street and Tidewater Drive while members of the Norfolk Traffic Fatality Team worked.
The woman’s name was being withheld pending notification of her family.
