DEERING, N.H. — A woman died Sunday after her SUV collided head-on with a fire truck in Deering.
New Hampshire State Police said Kerry Ainsworth, 62, of Deering, was the driver of the SUV. The crash happened on Deering Center Road near the fire house just before 6 p.m. as the firefighters were returning from a brush fire in Deering.
“The Honda, which was heading north, was in the southbound lane. (The) fire truck saw that (and) attempted to avoid that by going into (the) opposite lane and the collision occurred in the center of the road,” said New Hampshire State Police Sgt. Steve Wheeler.
