Wyoming, MI (April 20, 2010) – HME, Inc. announced today that it will be unveiling an all-new Type 6 wildland attack truck this week at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis, IN; the first in its class with a long lasting, heavy duty stainless steel body.
Constructed to meet the demanding requirements of wildland firefighting in rough terrain, the HME Ahrens-Fox Type 6 attack unit features a 300-gallon poly tank, 100-GPM Diesel pump and Foam Pro 1600 Class A foam system, mounted on a Ford F-550 four-door, four wheel drive chassis.
The unit’s hard-bolted stainless steel body eliminates rusting problems and its exclusive mounting system and body design eliminates cracking and wrinkling common with fiberglass and aluminum body construction.
“This unit features reduced total cost of ownership” explained HME Ahrens-Fox Director of Marketing Dave Fornell. “Its heavy duty fire pumper style plumbing, stainless steel body and exclusive mounting system that allows the unit to be easily transferred to a new chassis when conditions require. Not only are we introducing a vehicle specifically tailored for the rugged, off road operating environment common in wildfire operations, we are also providing administrators with a cost-effective answer to high maintenance and frequent replacement costs of low-cost, lightweight Type 6 units.
The unit will be on display in booth 9225 in the Lucas Oil Stadium at FDIC.
