Smeal to Showcase Updated TeleSqurt® Telescoping Aerial Boom at FDIC

TeleSqurt Design Upgraded With New Electrical System and Enhanced Electric-Over-Hydraulic Controls

SNYDER, NEB. – Smeal Fire Apparatus Co. announced today that the first TeleSqurt® Telescoping Aerial Boom produced by Smeal and Ladder Tower Co. (LTC) will be on display in Smeal Booth #3536 at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, Ind. The new aerial features the Smeal QL-12™ Peer-to-Peer Electrical System for enhanced reliability and a new electricover-hydraulic aerial control system. This compact aerial provides the mobility of a pumper with 65-foot vertical reach and 50-foot horizontal reach. This TeleSqurt will be delivered to Medina Fire Department in northeastern Ohio.

“The TeleSqurt aerial is legendary, and we are extremely proud to be the ones to revitalize it for the modern firefighting environment. This aerial device with elevated master stream has been a favorite among fire departments for decades, and it has a unique role in the North American fire service,” said Jeff Wegner, Smeal’s vice president of sales.

TeleSqurt Telescoping Aerial Boom
This new 65-foot TeleSqurt Telescoping Aerial Boom features a three-section extruded aluminum box boom, which provides excellent vertical and horizontal reach with a short bedded length, short wheelbase, minimum front overhang and a high degree of maneuverability. The boom operates from 10 degrees below horizontal to 85 degrees above. Dual A-frame-style stabilizers are positioned in front of and behind the axles, providing maximum stability with a spread of just 11’9” for setup in tight streets, alleys and culde- sacs. The TeleSqurt aerial is available in 65-foot and 50-foot lengths.

Smeal’s QL-12 multiplex electrical system, electric-over-hydraulic joystick control and LED lighting are standard. This TeleSqurt is equipped with a 1,500 gpm Waterous CMXC20 pump, 750-gallon water tank and is capable of flowing 1,000 gpm at the tip. Fold-down handrails provide for a low overall travel height of 11’9” to accommodate low station doors, aqueducts and bridges. It features a Smeal™ Sirius® chassis with a 199-inch wheelbase. Smeal’s dealer, Fire Safety Services, Inc., in Huntsville, Ohio, sold and will service this new aerial. Fire Safety Services is led by President Steve Spath.
