The Latham (N.Y.) Fire Department: KME

The Latham (N.Y.) Fire Department has taken delivery of a KME heavy-duty rescue unit with a stainless-steel, walk-around rescue body. The apparatus, built on a KME Predator XLFD chassis, features a Detroit Diesel Series 60 515-hp engine, an Allison 4000 EVS automatic transmission and a Whelen warning-light package. Other features include a Will-Burt Night Scan light tower, Fiberglo Compt rope lighting, a 35,000-watt Onan Protec direct-drive PTO generator, a 3,200-lb. Palfinger crane, a Hurst Octo-Flow system, two Zip-Dee awnings, 11 United Plastics Fabricating (UPF) polypropylene removable toolboxes, two Hannay air reels and six Hannay hydraulic hose reels.
