Through a contract with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwind Marine has delivered four 30' Argus-class fire and search and rescue (S&R) boats and 16 “extreme” fire and S&R boats to the Iraqi Civil Defense Directorate. The boats will be deployed in larger cities on a river system that covers the length of the country. The Argus-class fire/S&R boats can deliver 1,000-gpm at 100 psi water flow through a bow-mounted monitor. Installed hydrants will allow the systems to deliver 3,000-gpm at 50 psi to supply land tanks, docks or other boats. The boats are driven by a pair of 225-hp Honda BF 225A5XA outboards with 25" shafts and stainless-steel props. The pumping system consists of a gasoline engine coupled with a water jet pump.
