Communicable diseases can be transmitted from one person to another by various means. One way that this can occur is through shared equipment such as the SCBA regulator. The regulator is designed to prevent this type of thing from occurring, but there is still the chance that it can.
To prevent this, wash and rinse the regulator after use with manufacturer approved cleaners. Make sure to do this if the regulator is fixed to the SCBA and not personally assigned to each firefighter.
