Firefighters honored for saving newborn

They began resuscitation efforts while carrying the newborn to a rescue unit; the baby is now said to be happy and healthy

LAS VEGAS — Several members of Las Vegas Fire and Rescue were recognized by the Las Vegas City Council Wednesday for saving a newborn’s life.

Fox5 reported that on Aug. 2, units from Fire Station 8 responded to a call about a woman delivering a baby in her home. Firefighters arrived to find the baby was not breathing and had no heartbeat, according to the report.

They began resuscitation efforts while carrying the newborn to a rescue unit, according to the report. The child was taken to a local hospital and is now said to be healthy and happy.

Responding firefighters include Capt. Eric Littmann, engineer Rob Lawrence, paramedic Michael Arquette, paramedic Benjamin Kole, EMT Christopher Banks and EMT Frank Sams, according to the report.
