1. Where did your company name originate from?
Plymoth, as the company was once named, started its business based on customer intimacy and engineered solutions. During the 1980s, Plymoth established various subsidiaries worldwide, resulting in sales offices in the U.S., Canada, Germany and France. In 1989, Plymoth acquired the Swedish company CelciusVent; a leading manufacturer and distributor of ventilation systems to capture vehicle exhaust. The two company names were combined and the brand as we know it today was born: PLYMOVENT.

2. What was the inspiration behind starting your company?
Plymovent began when two entrepreneurs started their own companies. But the two start-ups had different strategies with one common goal: providing clean air for employees worldwide. And, that is what we still do today: CLEAN AIR AT WORK

3. What is your signature product and how does it work?
The Plymovent Magnetic Grabber®. It is a vehicle exhaust removal device that provides for a very quick, easy and controlled connection and disconnection to a vehicle exhaust system. The Magnetic Grabber® won the Red Dot Award for product design in 2011.

4. Why do you believe your products are essential to your Fire community?
Hazardous vehicle exhaust emissions in a fire or EMS station are an emergency service personnel’s most significant cancer health risk and could be a serious legal liability. The most effective method of capturing vehicle exhaust fumes is to capture at the source. Capturing the vehicle exhaust gases provides for a more safe working environment.

Our customers are pleased with the durability of our product and how it stands the test of time. We are constantly listening to the needs of our customers and using that feedback to improve our products. Excellent customer service and technical support is something we also pride ourselves in.

7. What is the most rewarding part of serving the first responder/local government community?
Knowing that we can provide a product that protects emergency service personnel because they do so much for us – they deserve to be protected.

8. Do you support any charitable organizations within public safety/community? Tell us more.
Plymovent, an ISO 9001:2015 manufacturer, is a member, sponsor and contributor to the National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation (NFFF), Firefighter Cancer Support Network (FCSN), International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC), Firefighter Aid and American Conference Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH).

9. What’s next for your company? Any upcoming new projects or initiatives?
Plymovent Bayonet Quick Lock. Across neighboring communities, fire departments work together to share resources and apparatus when needed. During mutual aid or under “shared service” agreements, a fire or EMS truck may want to use the Plymovent vehicle exhaust system while parking inside a neighboring station. In addition, regional fire departments may share specialized fire apparatus, such as a hazardous materials vehicle, and store them within different fire or EMS stations for training purposes.

If the vehicle uses the Plymovent Magnetic Grabber®, the Bayonet Quick Lock enables a vehicle to be hooked up to the Plymovent Pneumatic Grabber® system. The Bayonet Quick Lock easily connects to the tailpipe adapter so that the Pneumatic Grabber® nozzle can be attached to the vehicle.
