Broadens “stair climbs” to honor all of America’s fallen firefighters
Since 2005, firefighters have held “stair climbs” in which they climb 110 flights of stairs in memory of the 343 members of the FDNY who died in the 9/11 attacks on the Twin Towers. Now, the FDNY and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) are expanding the scope of the stair climb so as to honor all of America’s fallen firefighters.
On October 10, firefighters and the public will gather at Citi Field in Queens, NY to remember all of their fallen comrades with the inaugural National Stair Climb. The Climb itself is a journey of hope, reminding families of the legacies of their loved ones. All proceeds will benefit the FDNY Counseling Services Unit (CSU) and the NFFF to support programs that assist surviving families of firefighters nationwide. It is open to the public, the fire service, and to all ages.
