Registration underway for 3rd Annual 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at Firehouse Expo

Emmitsburg, MD – Show others that you will never forget the 343 members of FDNY who bravely gave their lives on September 11, 2001. Join the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation on Saturday, July 27 for the 3rd Annual Firehouse Expo 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb at the Hilton Baltimore, 401 W Pratt Street in Baltimore.

“We want to be sure that each of those firefighters are represented by someone climbing the stairwell of the Hilton in Baltimore,” said Chief Ron Siarnicki, executive director of the NFFF. “The 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb is an opportunity for anyone in the community to demonstrate respect and admiration for these courageous men. The Foundation is very pleased to work with Firehouse Expo to host this event for a third year.”

Participants will climb the stairwell of the Hilton Baltimore multiple times for a total of 110 stories, representing the number of floors in the Twin Towers. Everyone will receive a photo ID of one of the fallen heroes of September 11th. Check-in is between 8:30 and 9:00 am at the Hilton and the climb starts at 9:30 am.

The fee is $25 per person. The proceeds will benefit the FDNY Counseling Unit, which offers peer counseling and resources to the survivors of fallen firefighters. Through their groundbreaking partnership with the NFFF, the Counseling Unit has also provided assistance to the families and co-workers of the firefighters who died this year in West, Texas, and Prescott, Arizona. In honor of those brave men, a moment of silence will be observed.

“The tragedy of September 11 was the single-largest loss of firefighters in our nation’s history. Nearly 12 years later, the NFFF is still working with FDNY and using the lessons learned from that experience to assist survivors from other departments, such as West and Prescott, as they begin their healing,” explained Siarnicki.
