ARCATA, Calif. — The Arcata Fire Protection District purchased a pair of new tools recently, thanks to a $5,000 grant from the Pacific Gas and Electric Co.

The grant funds were put toward a master stream appliance and a Rapid Intervention Crew pack, which provides firefighters the tools needed to assist in the rescue of other firefighters, according to a press release from AFD.

“This generous award allows us to continue with our plan to standardize and modernize our emergency response equipment,” Chief John McFarland said in the release. “We really appreciate the continued support we receive from our community.

Both tools are now in service on engine 8215, which operates out of the downtown station off the Arcata Plaza.
