MARSHALL, Minn. — The volunteer fire department in the City of Marshall has received a $ 5,000 donation from Flint Hills Resources to help fund a new pickup truck for the department.
The truck, which will be purchased this fall, will replace the department’s existing 17-year-old truck. The vehicle will be used to pull critical equipment such as a command center and a decontamination trailer.
“It takes significant resources to maintain a volunteer fire department that serves a community of more than 13,000 people. We are blessed to have partners like Flint Hills Resources who regularly step up and provide assistance when we need it most,” said Marc Klaith, Marshall fire chief.
This is not the first time Flint Hills has provided support to the Marshall Fire Department. In 2009, the company contributed toward the department’s purchase of six new sets of turnout gear. The Marshall Fire Department regularly assists the Flint Hills Resources terminal in Marshall with emergency response drills.
“The Marshall Fire Department is comprised of more than 45 volunteers, and most of them have other jobs and obligations that they must leave when there are emergencies in the community,” said Mark Bailey, plant manager at Flint Hills Resources. “The work they do is important and appreciated; we are happy to support them.”
