More than 100 acres of hillside east of Farmington burned Saturday night because of the discharge of illegal fireworks, police said. The fire stated around 11 p.m. Davis County Sheriff’s Deputies in the Steed Canyon area were dispatched to the fire after dispatchers fielded several calls about the visible flames. On their way to the fire they were approached by a fast-moving vehicle. The deputies stopped the vehicle and determined that its occupants, as well as the people inside a second car, were responsible for starting the fire, police said. Fire crews worked though Sunday to contain the blaze. A 19-year-old Kaysville man was arrested. No charges have been filed. An investigation is pending.
