Too often, firefighters in rehab areas doff their turnout coats to cool off, but leave their bunker pants on. This limits the cooling process by circulating the blood through the unventilated crotch and legs. Either the job is done halfway, or it takes twice as long. For effective cooling, sit with the bunker pants pulled down around the ankles. Better yet, pull them off completely and give your feet a break as well. This will really speed up the rehab process.
