Firefighter suffers heat exhaustion in Tenn. house blaze

Four fire departments responded; the injured firefighter’s condition was not reported

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. — Several fire departments responded to a large house fire this evening on Wesleyan Road in the Apison area of Hamilton County that left a firefighter suffering from heat exhaustion.

According to a news release, the home was extensively damaged in the fire that began on the first floor. The homeowner told fire officials that he and his wife were at dinner celebrating their wedding anniversary when a neighbor called him with the news.

A firefighter with the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department was taken to a hospital suffering heat exhaustion. Firefighters from the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department, Bradley County Fire Rescue and Hamilton County Rescue also responded.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze, the news release states.
