MONT ALTO. Pa. — No property was damaged in a brush fire Friday afternoon at 12265 South Mountain Road.
South Mountain Fire Company responded to the fire, which burned about a “100-foot by 200-foot” patch of woods, according to Mike Carbaugh, deputy fire chief.
Carbaugh said embers from a pile of brush that residents were burning were picked up by the wind and caught the nearby woods on fire.
“We stopped it before it got to anything,” he said.
It took about an hour to extinguish the fire, with the assistance of Mont Alto Fire Company, Fayetteville Fire Department and Buchanan Valley Fire Company.
