FORT WAYNE, Ind. — A vehicle crashed into an Indiana fire apparatus on Saturday, killing the vehicle’s passenger and seriously injuring the driver.
The Fort Wayne apparatus was traveling northbound when a vehicle going southbound at high speed struck a curb, began to spin and struck the apparatus, according to WANE.
The passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, officials said.
No firefighters were injured in the crash. The Fort Wayne Fire Department activated fatal crash protocols for the driver of the apparatus.
