MUNCIE, Ind. — A fire captain is in serious condition days after the fire truck he was in was involved in a rollover accident.

The Star Press reported that David Mowrey, also an EMT, was being treated at a local hospital. Another injured firefighter, Rickie Taylor, was treated for bumps and bruises and released.

Mowery and Taylor were in the department’s Engine 83 Tuesday afternoon, returning from a fire, when the incident occurred.

The truck ended up off the roadway and on its roof. The emergency response was delayed for both firefighters until downed power lines could be shut off.

Mowrey has been a Daleville/Salem Township firefighter for 25 years. Taylor has been a firefighter for six years.
