READING, Pa. — A man identified as a former volunteer firefighter for the Monarch Fire Company died in a mobile home fire after being trapped inside.
Penn Live reported that Ronald A. Shuker, 70, a former volunteer firefighter and retired police lieutenant was killed after his mobile home became engulfed in flames early Thursday morning.
A police officer attempted to break out a window and rescue Shuker but was unable to reach him due to the flames and heat.
In a Facebook post, the MFC announced Shuker’s death and expressed their condolences.
“It is with deep regret that the Monarch Fire Company tragically announces the passing of retired Fire Police Lieutenant Ronald Shuker,” the post read. “Ronald served with the department for over 20 years; he will be greatly missed. The officers and members of the company would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Shuker family in this difficult time.”
