SAN ANTONIO — A sick 5-year-old honorary firefighter will receive a special gift from the cast of “Chicago Fire.”

News4SA.com reported that River Laurence was diagnosed with stage-four high-risk neuroblastoma in 2014 at the age of 2. San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood recently made Laurence an honorary firefighter.

“River just turned five and is one of the smartest young men I’ve ever met,” Chief Hood said. “He’s a firefighter; he’s a little hero as far as I’m concerned. He loves fire departments and is the happiest little boy.”

Reporters at News4SA called in some favors and got the cast of “Chicago Fire” to autograph a poster personalized for Laurence.

Chief Hood will deliver the surprise gift.
