VACAVILLE, Calif. — Cody Bassey, 4, of Vacaville did a nice thing earlier this month, opening a cookie stand and raising funds for the Vacaville Fire Department’s charity fund.
On Monday, he learned a invaluable lesson: When you do nice things for others, nice things happen to you.
Cody was declared a Vacaville Firefighter for the Day in honor of his efforts, and the declaration came with some up-close time at Vacaville’s Station 71 on Orchard Avenue. Cody spent the afternoon, visiting with firefighters, touring the station and being the center of a lot of media attention (not that he paid much attention to that part, he was much more interested in the fire trucks).
