PUYALLUP, Wash. — With Christmas fast-approaching, firefighters embraced the holiday spirit by lending a helping hand.
Firefighters with Central Pierce Fire & Rescue responded to the residence of Erik Gaines after he fell from his ladder while putting up Christmas lights, reported KING5.
“The homeowner was on the ground with a severely broken leg,” firefighter Shawn Erwin said. “The kids were upset seeing their dad fall.”
After Gaines was transported to the hospital, firefighters returned to finish putting Christmas lights on the house.
Firefighters spent over an hour setting up lights on the Gaines’ rooftop.
“It makes me feel that much more tied into the community, like we’re all looking out for one another,” Gaines said.
