STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — Firefighters from Canada and the US greeted each other on the international border while both crews battled the same wildfire.

While battling the Horns Mountain Fire, which is burning in both countries, the two firefighter crews posed for a good-natured photo at the border, according to a Washington State Fire Wire Facebook post.

“Firefighters are an international community of brother and sisters who join in the fight across time zones and borders,” the post read. “To our neighbors to the north we say … ‘Stay safe brothers and sisters. We’ve got your back.’”

The post added that the Horns Mountain Fire was “estimated at 5,583 acres with 90 percent containment” as of yesterday.

“Fire behavior was still listed at moderate, but firefighters are buttoning up the blaze,” the post read.
