GRANVILLE, N.Y. — Wet weather and a slick road were blamed for a firetruck accident in Granville that injured six North Country firefighters who were responding to vehicle accidents.
The Granville Hook & Ladder Company firefighters were travel ing from a vehicle accident on Route 149 to assist with another one on Route 25 when the company’s truck slid off ice-covered Lee Road at 4:13 p.m. Sunday, Washington County Sheriff Roger Leclaire said.
The truck, driven by firefighter Roger Farando, 58, slid off the road while rounding a sharp curve, police said.
The Granville and Argyle rescue squads transported three members of the firefighters to Glens Falls Hospital, where they were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
Hospitalized were Scott Myer, 18, with leg and hand injuries; Jeffrey Cooper, 37, with chest pains; and Raymond Bogart, 52, for an injured shoulder.
Farando and fellow firefighters Peter Jurnak, 53, and Matthew McKeighan, 27, suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Fire Chief Dan McClenning refused comment about the accident late Monday.
