HAMILTON, Ohio — Two Hamilton firefighters were injured, one critically, after their boat flipped during a training exercise on the Great Miami River Tuesday.
Both firefighters, whose names were not released, were taken to Fort Hamilton Hospital. The firefighter who was more severely injured was taken by helicopter to University Hospital, Fire Chief Joe Schutte said.
The chief said that about a dozen firefighters were participating in water rescue training below a dam on the river when one of the boats was pulled toward the “boil,” the turbulent area caused by falling water.
