JIM THORPE, Pa. — A Pa. fire chief is recovering after being hit by a truck Saturday.
Chief Bill Diehm of Jim Thorpe is recovering from several broken bones after the incident with a delivery truck, according to WNEP.
Police say he was directing traffic for a footrace and was wearing a safety vest at the time. They also suggested that the driver may have been texting.
“He’s a very good guy,” said John Horvath, Chief Diehm’s friend. “He has been our senior warden forever, as long as I have been here. He’d do anything for you and a couple of years ago, he was grand marshal of our Saint Patrick’s Day parade.”
Police said they should know within a week whether any charges will be filed.
