WIGAN, England — Fire chiefs in Wigan have revealed the extent of attacks on life-saving crews.
During the last 12 months, there have been 31 incidents of abuse towards firecrews from bystanders ... even from some of the people they are rescuing.
On Tuesday August 21, a drunken 56-year-old man from Bickershaw Lane, near Platt Bridge, carried out the 31st attack of the year when he verbally and physically abused firefighters who came to his aid during a house fire.
The man even attempted to get back into the blazing house, where he believed his dog was trapped, and police eventually had to be called to arrest him.
