Acquisition makes FireRescue1 the top destination for volunteer firefighters
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – FireRescue1.com, a leading online resource for fire rescue personnel, today announced that it has acquired VolunteerFD.org, the top online resource for the operation of volunteer and combination departments, to expand its library of high quality content and better serve the volunteer fire market.
The acquisition both allows VolunteerFD.org to better serve the volunteer community and expands FireRescue1’s network to include the 27,500 volunteer fire departments and their 750,000 members nationwide. Through the expanded network, enhanced resources and improved technology, FireRescue1 and VolunteerFD.org will be able to provide a greater range of quality content for volunteers in the six core areas of running a volunteer organization: bylaws, fundraising, grants, recruitment and retention, SOGs and training.
“With the addition of VolunteerFD.org’s network of devoted volunteer firefighters and unparalleled archive of in-depth volunteer content, FireRescue1 is emerging as the most comprehensive resource for all facets of the fire rescue industry,” said Alex Ford, CEO of FireRescue1.com. “The acquisition will benefit both the visitors to FireRescue1 and VolunteerFD.org, and fire service manufacturers who can now more effectively access a traditionally difficult-to-reach market.”
VolunteerFD.org was founded in 2002 with the purpose of addressing the lack of a central resource for volunteer firefighters to discuss running a volunteer fire department. The site quickly became a valuable tool for volunteers across North America to share information, best practices and tactical tips. VolunteerFD.org currently has more than 19,500 registered users who access and contribute to the site.
FireRescue1 is a partnership between FireRescue Magazine, the leading fire service publication, and Praetorian Group, the company behind Police1.com and EMS1.com. FireRescue1 was created to provide the fire rescue community with a single online resource for the latest product, news, training and employment information. The site has grown rapidly since its launch in mid 2005, and it is already the leading online destination for fire product information and research.
“VolunteerFD.org’s greatest achievement has been successfully bringing volunteer firefighters together in a collaborative, productive online environment,” said Jason Zigmont, Founder and CEO of VolunteerFD.org. “FireRescue1.com brings to VolunteerFD.org and the volunteer fire community a powerful network of sites and information along with the technology and proven skills needed to take the site to the next level.”
