LODD: Mich. fire chief dies from heart attack

IRONWOOD, Mich. — A firefighter suffered a heart attack and died last Wednesday after participating in a training exercise.

Fire Chief Jamie A. Peite, 43, with the Ironwood Township Volunteer Fire Department, was participating in pumper training and began to not feel well but thought it was not serious, the U.S. Fire Adminstration reported.

While attending classes at the University of Wisconsin-Superior the following morning, Chief Peite suffered a heart attack, USFA reported. He was treated and transported to a hospital, but succumbed to his injury.
