CINCINNATI — A Williamsburg Township fire lieutenant who collapsed on duty over the weekend is being moved to hospice.
Lt. David Knapke’s heart stopped for 20 minutes Saturday night, just after he and firefighters from Williamsburg and Mt. Orab finished putting out a fire on Greenbush West Road. His fellow first responders performed CPR at the scene and used a defibrillator five times to get his heart pumping again.
Knapke, 55, has been at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center since being flown there Saturday night. He woke up a few times, the fire department said, but didn’t respond much.
