ANKARA, Turkey — A blaze engulfed a chemical factory near the southeastern city of Gaziantep on Friday, killing at least two people and injuring 35 others, including firefighters and police officers, a news report said.
The firefighters put out the fire after a four-hour battle and discovered the bodies of two people as they checked the wreckage, the state-owned Anatolia news agency reported.
Three of the injured suffered severe burns and were transferred to the capital, Ankara, for treatment.
The cause of the fire at the factory, owned by the GAP Cleaning and Chemical company, was not immediately clear. Police detained the owner of the company for interrogation, Anatolia said.
