BROWNSVILLE, Texas — Nineteen-year firefighting veteran Juan Pablo Casanova, 53, suffered a heart attack while on duty in mid-July and later died at the hospital.
Valley Central reported Firefighter Casanova was a pump operator/engineer at Brownsville Fire Station Number Two when he suffered his first heart attack on July 16. He later experienced three more heart attacks while in the hospital where he died Aug. 10, according to USFA.
Since mid-July, firefighter Casanova had been hospitalized in Houston trying to recuperate, according to Valley Central.
“He was a fighter; he fought every step of the way, even till the end,” said his daughter, Norma Casanova.
A service will take place Aug. 14, at 1 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Buena Vista with a committal service to follow, according to the report. Full honors will be conducted by Brownsville Firefighters Association Local 970.
