NC fire chief dies while leaving home for call

MAYSVILLE, N.C. — A North Carolina fire chief died Thursday as he was leaving his home to respond to a call.

Chief Jimmy Davis Sr., of the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department, suffered an apparent heart attack and collapsed as he was preparing for a motor vehicle accident alarm.

Chief Davis, 63, was treated by first responders and transported to a hospital, but later died.
