NEW YORK — A city firefighter will be given the FDNY’s highest honor Wednesday for saving more than two dozen lives during Hurricane Sandy while he was off-duty.

Lt. Thomas Woods, 50, will be awarded the James Gordon Bennett Medal during the department’s Medal Day ceremony at the 69th Regiment Armory in midtown, officials said.

“It’s quite an honor,” a humble Woods told the Daily News on Tuesday. “I know that many people did outstanding things the night of Hurricane Sandy. To be recognized as one of them, it’s pretty impressive.”
