At approximately 8:10 p.m Wednesday. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) units responded to a report of a building fire in Hialeah Gardens located at 9300 NW 77 Ave. Reportedly, the busy Wal-Mart store was occupied when the fire erupted in an aisle containing rolls of paper towels and other household cleaning supplies. Upon arrival, firefighters noted numerous shoppers and store employees gathered outside the store. Obvious smoky conditions pervaded the occupancy and prompted fire command officers to summons additional MDFR units to ensure complete evacuation of the building and to fight the fire. The seat of the fire was rapidly identified and extinguished within 20 minutes. Damage due to flames was limited; however, the complications of smoke throughout the building prevented the resumption of business at the store. No injuries were reported. The store remains closed pending overhaul of the facility as well as investigation into the cause of the fire.
