House fire displaces four people

A one-alarm fire heavily damaged a Washington County home at 2500 NW 119TH Avenue on Friday morning. The initial call came in to 9-1-1 dispatchers at 10:34 am by a motorist who noticed heavy black smoke coming from the roof and back of the home.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy fire on the back side of the home and in the attic and began an aggressive interior fire attack. A few minutes later, neighbors told crews on scene that children might be inside. An interior search of the home by firefighters found no one inside. Several minutes later crews made contact with the homeowner who confirmed the house was empty. Firefighters both Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue and Portland Fire & Rescue had the fire knocked down within 12 minutes of arrival.

The origin of the fire was in the back bedroom, however, exact cause still remains under investigation. The house sustained heavy damage.

The American Red Cross was requested to assist two adults and two children ages 6 and 4 who were displaced from their home.
