House fire in Lebanon, Ore.

House Fire at 10:16pm Thursday night, 2-19-2009. Location is 33008 Brewster Rd. in Lebanon. Sheldon Gay family lost most of their home & belongings to a fire that was ignited by a space heater that was left on and unattended in a bedroom.

The occupants were not home at the time of the fire that caused an estimated $45,000 in damage. They are staying with relatives. TIP volunteers have contacted the Red Cross for assistance as well as the Pregnancy Alternative Center to provide clothing for their 6 month old son. LFCAIRS also provided the family with assistance to help them with incidentals they may need.

There were no injuries to report and the Lebanon Fire District responded 24 firefighters on 13 units to combat the blaze.

Actual flame damage was confined to the bedroom where the fire originated and was discovered by a passerby. The rest of the home suffered extreme heat and smoke damage.

Lebanon Fire District would like to remind everyone once again that space heaters need space from combustibles and they should never be left on unattended.
