CLEVELAND, Ohio - Firefighters battled a massive industrial fire that spread across multiple buildings Monday on the city’s East Side.

Cleveland Fire responded to a report of smoke in a building near East 65th Street and Selma Avenue. The fire required 28 units and at least 80 firefighters to contain the blaze, officials said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials do not believe it was intentionally set.

Fire officials stated several factors complicated their efforts, including a heavy load of roofing products stored in the buildings, limited water supply in the area, hot weather conditions and a breeze that helped spread the flames.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

At 4 p.m., crews remained at the scene to extinguish spot fires.
