BAKER, La. — Firefighters from three departments combined efforts Tuesday to rescue an injured worker stuck on a catwalk about 50 feet high on an oilfield workover rig, Baker Fire Department spokesman Howard Ward said.

The worker, whose name was not released, injured his back and was reportedly going in and out of consciousness. The accident happened off La. 964 shortly before 11:15 a.m.

The Zachary Fire Department responded to the initial call because the location is in an unincorporated area served by Zachary under an agreement with East Baton Rouge Parish Fire Protection District 1. The Zachary firefighters called for Baker’s aerial ladder truck and assistance from the Baton Rouge Fire Department’s rescue team, Ward said.
